No matter whether you are selling or buying a home, thinking about what it will take to move often brings an overwhelming amount of stress. The one thing I’ve realized as a Realtor, insight gained from friends and family can be extremely valuable. However, don’t hesitate to a different perspective that will help you understand more of what you need to do and where you want to land. Like technology when moving.
Bringing in simple technology and apps makes it easy to research cities, neighborhoods and even streets – all without getting up off the couch. I’ve done some research and here are some cool websites and apps that have proven valuable in evaluating new areas:
City-Data.com Provides Great Insight For Drilling Down Into Specifics About Target Neighborhoods.
This is a a valuable resource for anyone looking into a move and/or relocating to a new city. There’s a hidden benefit to this site – an active forum. This is great, and often more real-time solution that provides great information from locals that will answer questions. Nuances of a city, town, neighborhood or street can make a huge difference where you decide to live. I’ll say it again – this is a great tool.
Use Streetadvisor.com to Track Specific Neighborhoods
To get a better sense of different areas in a city or neighborhood where you want to move, use streetadvisor.com. This site is designed to give you a birds-eye view of entire communities instead of single businesses. They provide a good ranking system that is driven by users, not by advertisers.
Neighborhoodscout.com Takes A Look At The Numbers That Defines Neighborhoods
Once you’ve narrowed down your search, neighborhoodscout.com is a great site that provides great numbers that define different communities. You want to know important details such as the appreciation rate of properties, the crime rate, and sex offender registry in addition to other information. Note – this site is subscription based, but in my opinion, well worth it.
A Number of Rating Based Apps Are Worth A Look
Yelp is certainly a cornerstone ratings app in the marketplace. Another, foursquare, provides insight and reviews from locals who have intimate knowledge of businesses and neighborhoods that you are interested in. Both provide a powerful tool to understand the nuances of a neighborhood, community and businesses in that community. It’s great information you won’t get anywhere else.
Even with all the research you may do on your own. If you find yourself looking for a home in Long Beach, Seal Beach, Lakewood and North Orange County, I’ve amassed a wealth of knowledge over my 30+ years in the area and 13+ years in Real Estate. I know what areas are heating up and help narrow down choices if you’re undecided. Don’t hesitate to give me a call if you’re thinking of making a move.
And, if you’re interested in great information that I come across, please e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also give me a call at 562-618-9770. I will gladly mail you a monthly item of value and e-mail additional information each month from my subscription with one of the most reputable Real Estate Companies in the business, Buffini & Company. All free of charge. This month’s topic is, as you may expect, about moving.
